What ShotSense knows about you, and what it does with it.
The short version
ShotSense is a camera app that coaches you. To coach, it sends a small copy of the photo you just took to an AI model, gets back advice and corrections, and throws the copy away. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for advertising, and you can delete your account and every photo we hold from inside the app.
Who we are
ShotSense is made by Big Kitty Labs. Questions and requests about your data: privacy@shotsense.io.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a hashed password. Optionally a display name.
- Photos you take: stored on your phone. If you are signed in, the finished photo is also uploaded to your private cloud library (Amazon S3, in a folder only your account can reach) so it survives a lost phone. Camera settings (ISO, shutter, aperture, white balance) and the coach's notes are stored with it. Location is never recorded: the app does not ask for it, and device metadata is removed from uploads.
- Coach analysis: a reduced copy of each photo (about 768 pixels on the long side) is sent to our server and on to an AI model provider for the moment it takes to analyse it. It is not stored on our server. We only use providers that commit to not retaining or training on what they are sent.
- Usage: which preset or look you kept or discarded, and a quality score, so the app can learn your taste and we can improve the defaults. No advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps.
- Security logs: sign-in attempts and their IP address, kept briefly to stop abuse.
Your choices
- You can turn the AI coach off in Profile. The camera, looks and night mode keep working on the phone.
- You can use the app without an account. Photos then stay on your phone only.
- Delete your account in Profile → Account → Delete account. This removes your account, every photo in your cloud library and your presets at once. It cannot be undone.
Who else sees your data
- Amazon Web Services (S3) stores your cloud library. Neon hosts our database. Vercel runs our server.
- AI providers (via OpenRouter, currently Anthropic models) receive the reduced photo for analysis, with data retention and training disallowed.
None of them may use your data for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Deleting it removes everything within minutes; backups expire within 30 days. Security logs are kept for 30 days.
Children
ShotSense is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you before it applies.
